Stories in Fiber
I am a storyteller. My current work began to develop twenty-two years ago with my exploration of hand-dyed fabrics to better express my ideas and stories. I start with the raw materials then manipulate and transform color, texture, and design to create a new history. I use surface design techniques such as shibori, stamping, stenciling, silkscreen, discharge, embroidery, and hand-dye painting.
In my most recent work, I have been exploring combinations of fabric, paper, wood, metals, paint and other found materials to expand my visual language.
What evolves is a unique form of art, often functional, that enriches the lives of others as much as the creative process enriches my own.
